LAHORE:

The post of DPO Mandi Bahauddin (MB Din) has become a revolving door, as police officer Anwar Saed Tahir was appointed DPO MB Din for the fourth time since May 2021.

The other day, IG Punjab Faisal Shahkar transferred Naeem Aziz as DPO MB Din and tasked him to report to Central Police Office (CPO). Anwar Saeed, who was serving as DPO Hafizabad, was appointed DPO MB Din.

MB Din is an important district when viewed politically, falling in the home constituency of the Chaudhry Brothers.

The district is adjacent to district Gujrat, where PML-Q leaders enjoy their support base.

Anwar Saed was reportedly appointed DPO Mandi Bahauddin in May 2021 for political reasons, upon the intervention of PML-Q leaders and PTI allies in the Center and Punjab at that time. Anwar was serving as SP Investigations at that time.

Saed was appointed as DPO MB Din for the second time in December 2021 when a group of lawyers tortured a consumer court judge after he issued conviction orders to DC and AC. Sajid Hussain Khokhar was DPO MB Din at that time. After the incident, Khokhar was transferred by the government and Anwar appointed as DPO. Again, he was serving as SP Investigations at that time.

Sajid Hussain Khokhar was reinstated as DPO MB Din on July 1st 2022, however he only served as DPO for 20 days and was transferred on July 27.

Anwar was again deputed as DPO Mandi Bahaudding. In August, Anwar was again transferred and Naem Aziz was appointed as DPO MB Din. On October 3, Naem was transferred and Anwar was again reinstated DPO Mandi Baha ul Din again.
