After hearing the petitioner's stance, the court granted Hareem Shah protective bail for seven days and ordered her to deposit a surety bond of Rs25,000.
The court also directed Hareem Shah to cooperate with the FIA in the investigation and ordered forfeiture of bail for non-cooperation from the FIA.
JI asks SHC to cancel
K electric's licence
Apart from this, Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi filed a reply to the petition against K Electric in the Sindh High Court.
Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman and others have said in the reply submitted through Usman Farooq Advocate that the legal requirements for imposing fuel adjustment charges are not being fulfilled. The amount charged as fuel adjustment charges is illegal, and K Electric should be ordered to refund the money to the consumers. The reply said that FAC is imposed on a presumptive basis. The collection of illegal charges violates Articles 4, 8, 10 and 24 of the Constitution.
NEPRA, on the other hand, has not submitted the verified documents related to the purchase of furnace oil, gas and electricity. The reply said that Nepra is abusing its powers to benefit K Electric. K Electric's system of fuel adjustment charges is bogus. Breakdowns, shutdowns and load shedding in K Electric's system continue daily.
Instead of providing convenience, K Electric has become a burden on the citizens, has not invested in power generation as per the agreement, and is not taking any steps to facilitate citizens.
The public has to bear the penalty for the incompetence of Nepra and K Electric. Nepra should be directed to cancel the license of K Electric.
