DHA police catch four suspected muggers

Saudi riyals, stolen mobile phones and motorcycles seized

The Defence police arrested four muggers, including an injured one, after an alleged encounter near DHA Phase VII Suffa University. According to a Karachi police spokesperson, the injured suspect, who said his name was Honey, was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) by an ambulance, while the other three Javed, Ahmed and Saddam were hauled away to Defence Police Station in the police mobile.

Police recovered two 30 bore pistols with ammunition, four mobile phones, Rs12,000 in cash, 4,000 Saudi riyals, seven ATM cards from different banks and two motorcycles from the suspects. According to police, four armed suspects on two motorcycles were roaming in DHA Phase 7, intending to rob citizens.

At the same time, seeing the police mobile on patrol of the Defence police station, the armed suspects started firing at the police. The police retaliated, resulting in one accused being injured while the other accused being arrested.

In the initial investigation, the accused revealed that they had committed dozens of similar incidents across the city, especially in different areas of DHA and Clifton.

The investigation of the arrested accused is going on. Separately, New Karachi police arrested a mugger in an injured state after an alleged encounter near Sector 11 Hafiz Ji Mazar. An ambulance shifted the injured accused to Jinnah Hospital.

According to the Karachi Police spokesperson, the injured suspect Danish Akram, 35, was carrying a loaded 9mm pistol, a mobile phone and cash. The injured accused will be interrogated after medical treatment.

Korangi Industrial Area shootout

Korangi Industrial Area police arrested an suspect after an alleged encounter in Sector 6-G Mehran Town. According to the spokesperson of Karachi police, the injured suspect, Umair Gul Arshad, was shifted to JPMC in an ambulance.

A companion of the arrested accused managed to escape by taking advantage of the darkness of the night. The name of the absconding accused is Sultan.

Officers recovered one TT pistol with ammunition, four snatched smart phones, two stolen wallets and stolen cash from the arrested accused. During the preliminary investigation, the injured accused confessed to being involved in dozens of incidents at Korangi Industrial Area and the river embankment.
