‘Gambler’ falls to death

Nazimabad police station SHO Riaz said that the police arrested 17 gamblers from the gambling centre

A man died after falling from a building during a police raid at a gambling den in Nazimabad. The central district SSP Rana Maroof Usman said that police raided a house in Nazimabad No3 on information that a gambling den was running at the premises.

Meanwhile, one of the suspects got panicked, first he ran towards the roof, then jumped down apparently to escape arrest, SSP Usman said.He said that SDPO Gulbahar and DSP Ghafar Shah had been appointed as inquiry officers to investigate the incident and the role of the police party during the raid.

In this regard, Nazimabad police station SHO Riaz said that the police arrested 17 gamblers from the gambling centre and seized equipment, cash and other items from the premises.

He said the officers found an injured man on the ground floor, who had jumped from the first floor while trying to flee. The injured was shifted to Abbassi Shaheed Hospital for treatment. However, he succumbed to his injuries.

The deceased was identified as Hanif and said to be a resident of New Karachi. In this regard, police are investigating further.
