Two ‘robbers’ killed in encounter

Police returned fire and injured three of the suspects, the fourth managed to escape the scene

FAISALABAD:

Two suspected robbers were killed, while another was arrested, following a police encounter within the jurisdiction of Chak Jhumra police station.

Police said on Wednesday that four suspects were on an alleged looting spree near Chak 126 Nikokara.

A police team reached the spot upon the victim’s complaint and directed the suspects to surrender, however, they opened indiscriminate fire, triggering a gunfight.

The police returned fire and injured three of the suspects. The fourth suspect managed to escape from the scene.

Police immediately shifted the injured suspect to hospital, where two were pronounced dead while the condition of third was termed critical

The suspects were identified as Asad alias Nazim and Imtiaz alias Nawaz.
