Imam Hussain’s chehlum observed across Balochistan
The chehlum of Hazarat Imam Hussain and his companions was observed in Quetta on Saturday like the rest of the country amid strict security arrangements. The main mourning procession was brought out by devotees in Quetta.
The government suspended cellular services to maintain the law and order situation for the day in Quetta and other parts of Pakistan. The cellular service was suspended in Quetta from 12 pm to 9 pm, a well-placed source within the Balochistan Home Department said. He said the service was suspended to ensure security of the mourning processions.
The procession followed its traditional routes and ended at Alamdar Road Quetta. The Balochistan government had adopted a strict security plan to avoid any untoward incident in the city. Security personnel were deployed at different locations from which the procession of Chehlam was passing.
Additional Chief Secretary Home Balochistan, Zahid Saleem visited the central police office in Quetta to review security arrangements for the procession. He along with Inspector General (IG) Police Balochistan, Abdul Khaliq Sheikh monitored the different routes of the Chehlum procession from the control and command center.
They were briefed about the different aspects of the security plan for the Chehlum.
