Doctors, nurses and allied staff will be hired to meet staff shortage

Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has lifted a ban on ad hoc recruitment of doctors and paramedical staff in public sector hospitals across the province.

He approved a summary forwarded by the Punjab Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education, and Primary and Secondary Healthcare Departments in this regard n Tuesday.

The chief minister said on the occasion that the ban had been lifted for both the provincial departments and doctors, nurses and allied staff could now be recruited on an ad hoc basis to meet the human resource shortage.

Meanwhile, the recruitment process for the posts, preparation of working papers for the promotion of doctors and review of feedback from online portals were discussed in a meeting chaired by Punjab Health Secretary Imran Sikandar Baloch.

Provincial Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Special Secretary Dr Farrukh Naveed, Additional Secretary Admin Zahida Azhar, Deputy Secretary Admin Abu Bakr and other officers concerned attended the meeting.
