LAHORE:

At least 12 senior police officers including two District Police Officers (DPOs) have been transferred by the Inspector General of Punjab Police (IGP) on Friday.

Since Pervaiz Elahi took reign as Punjab chief minister after over one and a half decade, the police command was being reshuffled fast and swiftly.

Within days, the appointments were made at key posts such as Lahore CCPO, DIG Operations and Investigations Lahore, CPO Gujranwala among others.

A few RPOs were also changed. The change of command reportedly was to be made to almost all the RPOs and most of the DPOs.

However, for last few days back reportedly, there had been a friction between the transfer and postings of senior police officers across the province between Chief Minister Office and IG Office.

Reportedly, interviews of many senior police officers including two women officers were conducted during last few days for the slots of DPOs and RPOs.

The recent transfers were made after vetting of the CM office as well IG office.

On Friday, the IGP issued orders of transfer of DPO Okara and Sialkot.

SSP Muhammad Faisal who was serving as Battalion Commander PC Rawalpindi has been appointed as DPO Sialkot.
