Sit-in for missing persons ends in Quetta

Solution of the issue is the responsibility of the country and nation, says interior minister

The family members and relatives of the missing persons ended their sit-in in the Quetta Red Zone after Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah assured them of the recovery of their loved ones.

"The issue of missing persons is not only confined to their families rather it is an issue of the country," the federal minister said during a news conference at the Balochistan Chief Minister’s Secretariat on Thursday.

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Quddus Bizenjo, federal ministers Nazeer Ahmed Tarar, Agha Hassan Baloch, Shazia Marri, Senator Kamran Murtaza and other high-level officials were also present on the occasion.

Sanaullah maintained that the present government was committed to resolving the issue of the missing persons. "Solution of this issue is the responsibility of the country and nation."

Sanaullah said the federal ministers held negotiations with the family members of the missing persons on the directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The federal minister met with the protesting members of the missing persons in the Red Zone of Quetta and assured them of the recovery of their loved ones after which the protesters ended the sit-in.

He said that negotiations with anyone including the TTP would be held under the Constitution of Pakistan, adding that the armed forces of the country were fully capable to deal with terrorism.

Speaking on the occasion, Tarar said that seven meetings on the issue of missing persons were held on the directives of PM Shehbaz, adding that the government wanted to find a solution to the problem that continued for 20 years.
