ISLAMABAD:

The federal capital administration has finally decided to vaccinate and neuter stray dogs instead of killing them.

An official said that the inclusive plan to reduce the population of stray dogs will take effect next week.

Agriculture and Extension Services Director Waqar Anwar on Wednesday that the trap-neuter-vaccinate-return (TNVR) policy would be the mainstay of the plan and the decision to sterilize stray dogs has been taken after taking all stakeholders on board. He said the decision has been finalised after the imposition of a ban on the killing of dogs by the court.

Anwar said that the vaccination will help prevent unnecessary pain and suffering of stray dogs, and also reduce dog bite incidents.
