Exhibition marks Defence Day

'This day reminds us of the unprecedented unity and determination of the Pakistani nation'

The Punjab Arts Council organised a painting exhibition to mark Defence Day. Paintings of martyrs, Ghazis, tanks, armored vehicles and warplanes of the Pakistan Air Force were put on display at the show.

Colonel (retd) Syed Muhammad Safi and Naheed Manzoor were the chief guests of the exhibition.

Safi, who was the chief guest at the ceremony, said that the people fought alongside the Pakistan Army in the war of 1965. "We will not hesitate to make any sacrifice to defend our beloved motherland, to maintain its independence and sovereignty," he said.

Naheed Manzoor said that the Day of Defense and Martyrs reminds us of the unparalleled courage and bravery of the armed forces and the nation. Fifty-seven years ago today, the armed forces and the nation crushed the evil intentions of the enemy. "September 6 is a bright symbol of unwavering determination, patriotic spirit, great sacrifice in our history. I salute the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the defence of the country."

Punjab Arts Council Director Waqar Ahmed said that September 6 is a memorable day in our national history; this day reminds us of the unprecedented unity and determination of the Pakistani nation. The entire nation defeated the aggression of the enemy by the side of Pakistan forces.
