Police have failed to arrest the suspects involved in the murder of two siblings, who were killed near Trolley Ara within the Sadiqabad police limits on Friday.
Unidentified armed men on two motorcycles shot and killed two siblings, Noreen Bibi and Riaz Khokhar, while they were returning home after getting stamp papers from the market as they were pursuing the murder case of the woman’s 22-year-old son named Haider Ali, who was found dead in the Khanna area of Islamabad a month ago.
The complainant told the police that her younger brother Haider Ali went missing from home a month ago and later his body was recovered from the limits of Khana police station. She said that her mother Noreen and uncle Riaz were pursuing her brother's murder case.
She said that her mother and uncle had gone to the police station to nominate the suspects involved in the murder of her brother. She said that the two siblings went to a vendor near Trolley Ara at 6:30 pm on Friday evening to get stamps to complete the legal process when four accused on two motorcycles opened fire on them, killing them on the spot.
The complainant requested the police to trace the accused involved in the double murder at the earliest.
Meanwhile, Rawalpindi police spokesman, Inspector Sajjad Al-Hasan told The Express Tribune that City Police Officer Shehzad Nadeem has formed a high-level investigation committee headed by SSP investigation to probe the double murder.
He said that the double murder was being investigated in connection with the murder of Haider Ali, who was killed within the Khanna police limits a month ago. He said that police have obtained a preliminary report, while the post-mortem report was awaited. He said that the HIU will directly investigate the case with the assistance of the Punjab Forensic Laboratory team.
