1,300 cops deployed for Urs security

MULTAN:

On the eve of Bahauddin Zakariya Multani’s annual Urs, security and cleanliness preparations are underway.

Police finalised the security plan for the Urs on Thursday, which will be held from September 2, with over 1,300 police officials deployed to prevent any untoward incident.

In line with special directives of the City Police Officer (CPO) Khurram Shahzad Haider, the police would ensure foolproof security arrangements during Urs Hazrat Bahauddin Zakariya Multani.

The police will deploy officers on the ground, while 120 CCTV cameras will also be installed to monitor security arrangements from two control rooms set up by police

CPO Khurram Shahzad Haider directed officers that teams from Elite force, Dolphin Squad, Muhafiz Squad and regular police would continue patrolling the city, while four reserves would remain alert at police lines for quick response in case of any emergency.

The CPO also directed officers to remain alert and keep vigilant of suspicious persons and activities during the celebrations. He urged comprehensive checking of everyone before entry to the shrine of Bahauddin Zakariya.
