Girls outperform boys in Pindi board’s matric exam

Total of 13,749 students scored A+Grade

The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Rawalpindi on Wednesday announced the matric annual examination 2022 result with a pass percentage of 71.73%.

According to the result, a total of 1,18,004 male and female students had been registered and of them, only 1,16,824 applicants appeared in the examination.

Out of these, 60,321 male students and 56,503 female students appeared in the examination. Collectively, 83,786 students passed. Out of them, the total number of male students who passed was 38,325, while the number of female students who passed was 45,461 whereas 32,871 students failed the examination.

Moreover, 1,180 cheating cases were registered against students, while 1,111 students were absent as well.

This academic year, female students outperformed male students. The overall success ratio of female students remained at 80.46%. The individual success ratio of students remained at 63.55%.

All eight of Punjab's education boards have also abolished the first, second and third position system, and a grading system has been introduced for both matriculation and intermediate examinations.

The results show that a total of 13,749 students scored an A+ Grade, 13,347 scored A-Grade, 18,459 scored a B-Grade, 21,383 scored a C-Grade, 15,633 scored a D-Grade, whereas 1,215 students scored E-Grade.

A plus grade is given to students who score more than 80%, A-Grade is given to students who secure more than 70%, B-Grade is given for more than 60%, C-Grade is given for more than 50%, and D-Grade is given for more than 40%, while E-Grade is only given for passing marks.

These grades were also issued regular numbers, with an A plus grade being awarded to more than 880 marks. A-Grade ranges from 770 to 879 marks, a B-Grade is 660 to 769 marks, a C-Grade is 550 to 659 marks, a D-Grade is 440 to 549 marks, and an E-Grade is 439 marks or less.

A total of 80,277 candidates appeared in the examination of the regular group in science subjects; 62,958 of them succeeded, obtaining a 78.43% overall passing rate.

A total of 19,598 candidates appeared in the regular students' art group, out of which 13,020 passed; the overall success ratio was 66.44%.

A total of 10,928 candidates appeared in the private science group, out of which 5,414 passed; the overall result was 49.57%.

While a total of 6,021 students appeared in the private arts group, 2,394 passed, and the overall result obtained was 39.76%.

Class IX results are expected to be declared on September 25.
