Lone ATM closure irks BISP beneficiaries
The only Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) centre established in the under-construction building of the taluka hospital and the ATM of a private bank have both seen a large influx of deserving women from the flood-affected areas following the federal government's release of relief funds for the flood victims in Kunri Town.
Exasperated by hot and humid weather, condition of women and children deteriorated. Two women collapsed and were rushed to hospital, where they are still undergoing medical treatment.
Police officers posted at the centre remained silent spectators and have left the deserving women helpless. Women claim that the owners of the BISP payment devices at suspend payment of the aid money on the pretext of various excuses. Moreover, closure of lone ATM was also a cause of anxiety among the flood victims.
