Provincial Finance Minister Sardar Mohsin Khan Leghari met flood victims in Muhammadpur and Fazilpur and distributed tents, ration and other relief goods among them.

Dera Ghazi Khan Commissioner Muhammad Usman Anwar, Rjanpur Deputy Commissioner Arif Rahim, Jampur Assistant Commissioner Abghyne Khan and other officials were also present.

The finance minister said the Punjab government had declared the flood-affected areas calamity-hit, under which flood victims will be exempted from water charges and other government dues. The government also imposed a financial emergency and deputy commissioners had been given full powers for spending in the flood-affected areas.

The minister added that floodwater from hill torrents has to be given a safe way to reach the river.

Commissioner Usman Anwar said that the flood was the most devastating in 60 years.
