The Karachi Administrator Barrister Murtaza Wahab said on Thursday that in order to meet the requirement of food for flood and rain victims of Sindh, the provincial government has requested the federal government to ensure availability of basic necessities at the utility stores round the clock.
"All deputy commissioners of the province have funds available with which the necessary items will be purchased from utility stores and be provided to the flood affectees. The Sindh government will not leave the flood victims alone. We stand with them in their time of suffering. Sindh ministers, MNAs, MPAs, and party officials are out in the field helping the flood affectees." The administrator said this while addressing an important meeting held through video link to ensure the supply of basic necessities at utility stores.
Meanwhile, Chief Secretary Sindh, Dr. Sohail Rajput also participated in the meeting through video link, in which Federal Minister of Industry, Makhdoom Murtaza, Federal Secretary of Industry, managing director of Utility Stores also participated.
The Karachi administrator said that the federal government has assured all possible cooperation.
Wahab said that the people are in dire need of tents, rations, medicines, firewood and drinking water.
"The provincial government is providing relief to the affectees, but philanthropists should also actively participate in this difficult time," he added.
TheaAdministrator said that the work of draining rainwater from cities and villages has been started and every possible effort is being made to complete this work as soon as possible.
Chief Secretary Sindh Sohail Rajput said that all possible measures are being taken by the Sindh government to provide immediate assistance to the victims.
He said that various organisations are participating in the relief and rescue operation and the provincial government is working to resettle the affectees as soon as possible.
