CHAK JHUMRA:

A woman allegedly killed her step-son by poisoning him, while two separate honour killings were reported, allegedly motivated by love marriages.

Police handed over the victims’ bodies to their relatives after the post-mortem and registered cases against twelve accused, including two women. Raids are underway for their arrest.

Mustanasir Ali, a resident of Chak No. 104 RB, filed a case that his thirty-year-old brother, Dilawar, left home in the morning to go to work. On the way, his stepmother, Nazia and others stopped him and took him home. While there, the accused allegedly poisoned Dilawar by serving him a poisoned cold drink.

His condition worsened and he was shifted to Civil Hospital by Rescue 1122 staff. He later died in the hospital. According to the complainant, Dilawar used to demand a share in the land property, due to which Nazia poisoned him.

Separately, Arham Jawad contracted a love marriage with Mah Noor a year and a half ago. After several days however, Mah Noor and Arham had disagreements and she started going to her family. She tried to settle matters amicably, but Mah Noor's mother Nusrat Bibi, father Muhammad Anwar and brother Muhammad Sulaiman were unhappy that Arham Jawad had ‘ruined’ their honor.

Based on this grudge, the accused called the 22-year-old Arham to their home through Mah Noor, where they allegedly tortured and poisoned him. He was taken to the hospital.

The police reached the hospital and recorded his video statement, while the father of the deceased alleged that the accused killed his son.

Meanwhile, a man shot and killed his daughter over her choice of husband. The deceased was the mother of a three-month-old girl. Police took custody of the body and shifted it to the hospital for a post-mortem and started searching for her father.

25-year-old Asia Bibi married Abdul Rehman one and a half years ago. The couple had a three-month-old daughter named Amna.

Abdul Rehman was arrested in a drug case and Asia had gone to visit him with her mother-in-law. However, her father, Muhammad Amin, shot Asia dead on the road, due to her marriage to Rehman.
