Six killed in Punjab road accidents

71% of the crashes involved motorcycles

At least six people died, whereas 903 were injured in 878 Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) across Punjab during the last 24 hours.

Out of this 473 people were seriously injured who were shifted to different hospitals. Whereas, 421 minor injured victims were treated at the incident site.

The majority (71%) involved motorbikes. Further, the analysis showed that 421 drivers, 23 underage drivers, 109 pedestrians, and 373 passengers were among the victims of these road traffic crashes.

The statistics show that 246 RTCs were reported in Lahore which affected 253 persons placing the Provincial Capital at top of the list followed by 75 Faislabad in with 72 victims and at third Gujranawala with 71 RTCs and 73 victims.

The details further reveal that 903 victims were affected by road traffic crashes including 736 males and 167 females, while the age group of the victims shows that 158 were under 18 years of age, 433 were between 18 and 40 years and rest of the 312 victims were reported above 40 years of age.

As per the data 750 motorcycles, 68 rickshaws, 85 cars, 17 vans, nine buses, 11 trucks and 75 other types of auto vehicles and slow-moving carts were involved in aforesaid road traffic accidents.
