Minister okays funds for child health varsity

Reviews progress of under-construction children block in Gangaram Hospital

Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid has said funds will be released for the construction of University of Child Health Sciences.

She expressed these views while chairing a high-level meeting in the Department of Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education.

Provincial Minister of Primary and Secondary Health Care Department Dr Akhtar Malik also participated in the meeting. In the meeting, Punjab Health Secretary Imran Sikandar Baloch, Special Secretaries, Additional Secretaries, chief planning officer and other officers participated.

During the meeting, the health minister reviewed the on-going progress on the under-construction children block in Gangaram Hospital, the Institute of Cardiology under construction at DG Khan and other development projects.

Health Secretary Imran Sikandar Baloch gave briefing to the health minister. Dr Rashid expressed her opinion and said facilities should be created for the patients in the government hospitals of Punjab.

The Sehat Sahulat card has been proven a game-changer. So far, more than 1.9 million people have received free treatment through the Sehat card in Punjab. She further said that the 600-bed mother and child block under construction in Gangaram Hospital will be completed on time.

The authorities have been directed to complete the under construction Institute of Cardiology in DG Khan has been instructed to complete on time. Rawalpindi Institute of Urology will also be completed on time.
