Korangi Causeway becomes picnic point

The Korangi Causeway and Korangi Crossing Road remained closed for traffic on the sixth day as part of security measures due to flooding in the Malir River after heavy monsoon rains.

Photos: Express/AgenciesThe Sindh Education Department announced closure of the educational institutions on Thursday after the Pakistan Meteorological Department forecasted heavy rains in the province, especially in Karachi.

Some citizens decided to take risk instead of staying at home in the bad weather. They reached the Korangi Causeway with their children to witness the flooding in the Malir River. There was no police deployed there and the children took advantage of this by swimming in the rainwater.

The Korangi Causeway presents the view of sea. "We reached there with children, food and drinks to entertain ourselves after the weather turned pleasant," said one family. "The children are having a great time."

They further said that police were not deployed but they were taking care of their children.
