Sindh has received 300% more than usual rainfall since the start of the month of August, while Gulshan-e-Hadeed has recorded 855 mm (34 inches) of rain since July, said Sardar Sarfraz, the Chief Meteorologist of Karachi, on Thursday.
According to the data released by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Gulshan-e-Hadeed was followed by PAF Base Masroor with 713 mm of rain, Quaidabad 669 mm, DHA 612 mm, and Sarjani Town 556 mm. Meanwhile, Korangi has so far recorded the lowest rainfall of 306 mm.
Meanwhile, Thadu Dam, which has been filled to its capacity in this monsoon season, overflowed on Thursday, flooding several areas, including Samira Chowk, Anara Garden, BCSIR Society and New Ancholi Society in Scheme 33.
Residents are unable to find any help and therefore they are relocating to other areas.
