BALAKOT:

Bhonja village is rich in natural beauty which can be utilised for tourism activities in the country, however, it lags behind due to a lack of basic facilities in the area, says Nazim Village Council Bhonja and Tehsil Council Balakot member Ilyas Ahmed.

In an interview with The Express Tribune, he said that two years ago, the C&W Department had issued a tender worth Rs20 million for the Noori Chattaparh Road.

However, no progress has been made yet except for the construction of two walls. Similarly, the roads connecting Bhonja and Noori need to be repaired as they got damaged during the recent monsoon rains. Moreover, annual funds for repair could not be used due to pending construction work.

He complained that the repair was extremely necessary but it could not be done since the Sub Divisional Officer C&W Sajjad Khan is barely present in his office. He further said that he had also tried to contact Special Assistant on Cleaning and Repair of Roads of Village Council Bhonja and MPA of the Constituency, Syed Ahmad Hussain Shah but he also did not receive any positive response.

Furthermore, he said that he demands the authorities to begin work on the issued tender immediately, otherwise he will have to inform the Chief Secretary and Chief Minister of KPK.

Bhonja is a stunning valley that can significantly contribute towards tourism in Pakistan.
