Pakistan is at the cuff of boasting its new ‘Made in Pakistan’ pride. The first-locally manufactured electric car is an outstanding effort of collaboration between various entities, and will hit the road by 2024. The Dice Foundation in conjunction with the NED University of Engineering and Technology, the Sir Syed University of Engineering and the National College of Arts has churned out a smart wonder which could cover a distance of 210km at a speed of 120 kmph, after charging for eight hours via a 220V connection. This is a debut engineering marvel, and hats off to the young minds at these varsities.
The car to be named as NUR-E 75 will be credited under the brand JAXERI. The team is busy upgrading the battery gadgets for its versatility, and the car has as many modern features of the present day. It is a debut of its kind that the NCA has registered an episode in engineering by designing the cool car, which will initially be a prototype five-seater hatchback. The conglomerate has plans to produce a sedan and late SUVs. It is undoubtedly a feat as its study, initiative, engineering and design are locally cajoled, and its mass production will be a shot in the arm in terms of environmental preservations. Last but not least it will help in saving the precious foreign exchange spent on importing automobiles as well as fuel.
The launch ceremony on the eve of Independence Day prided itself in saying that the product has the capacity and potential to become a sought-after export commodity. This achievement underscores the fact that there is no dearth of potential, and the tangibles especially among the youth can be buoyed by just ensuring the right environment. It is also a recent attainment that Pakistan registered remarkable exports in IT, and expanded its base by around 70%. Similarly, fine arts, textiles and handicrafts are other avenues that possess the merit and creative hands to register big. The first electric car needs official patronage so that it does not end up as a footnote. It’s high time to stand with brand Pakistan.
