LAHORE:

The Independence Day celebrations at Alhamra Arts Council started with a flag-hoisting ceremony, where many children participated. Executive Director Alhamra Farhat Jabeen led the Freedom Walk and said, “we cannot forget those who sacrificed their lives for the freedom movement. Alhamra salutes all its martyrs,” she added.

On the auspicious day, Lahore Arts Council released the national song “Pyara Pakistan,” sung by famous singer Sahir Ali Baga, as part of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations by the Department of Information and Culture Punjab.

A children’s painting competition based on the images of independence leaders and a story-telling session about the freedom movement’s sacrifices were also a part of the celebrations.

Director Art & Culture Zulfiqar Ali Zulfi, Deputy Director Aftab Ahmed Ansari, other officers and employees and the public participated in large numbers to make the occasion memorable.
