Five shops sealed for selling tainted milk

The authorities discarded 500 litres of contaminated milk during the ongoing crackdown

HARIPUR:

The Haripur district administration continued its crackdown on sellers of adulterated and sub-standard milk across the district. The district administration also slapped heavy fines on sellers of contaminated milk.

The district administration sealed five shops after raids on 20 milk shops in various areas of Haripur city and Sara-e-Salah. The shops were sealed for allegedly selling milk and other dairy products made of Iranian goats’ milk and Indian chemical.

The authorities discarded 500 litres of contaminated milk during the ongoing crackdown.

In charge of milk quality testing lab stated that they had been receiving complaints and therefore action is being taken accordingly with the support of the district administration.

Former president of All Tajir Association (ATA), Raja Hafeez Noor has said that the action was also taken previously against the contaminant mafia of milk and curd. “For the past two days, the district administration with the assistance of the livestock department and the mobile testing unit imposed heavy fines against those involved in the heinous act of mixing water and chemicals in the milk,” he added.
