After the death of a newborn baby due to alleged negligence by doctors at a private hospital in Gulistan Colony, the baby’s relations staged a protest against the administration of the hospital.
The hospital administration summoned police who arrived at the hospital and assured the relations of the baby of an inquiry into the incident.
The protest ended on police’s assurance of investigation into the incident.
Ammara Rizwan, a resident of Ali Town, who was five-month pregnant, had been brought to the private hospital in Gulistan Colony where doctors said to have sought permission from her brother to operate upon her. Reportedly, the woman’s brother did grant doctors the permission to operate upon his sister.
Meanwhile, the baby, who had been born alive, died soon after birth.
Upon receiving the news about the newborn’s death, Ammara's relatives arrived at the hospital, accused the doctors of negligence and allegedly rioted at the hospital.
There have been several incidents of a similar nature recently in which some people whose relatives had died at a hospital had held doctors responsible for those deaths and attempted to create a law and order situation.
In July this year, relations of a newborn baby who died at a private hospital in Chak Jhumra launched a protest against the doctor who had dealt with the case, alleging that the baby died due to negligence.
