Two Karachi cops martyred in grenade explosion

Incident being termed as an accident with the terrorism aspect ruled out

KARACHI:

Two police officials were martyred and two others injured in a hand grenade explosion on Tuesday in Karachi’s Garden area.

According to the police, the grenade blew up in front of Garden headquarters’ armoury, martyring two officials, identified as Constable Sabir, 45, and Shehzad, 40.

Fourty-year-old Ali Gohar and Saeed, 55, were wounded and are currently in critical condition, it was reported.

According to the authorities, the hand grenade exploded in the station’s armoury while it was being cleaned.

The incident is being termed as an accident with the terrorism aspect ruled out.

As per police sources, further investigation into the occurrence is currently underway while the bomb disposal squad has also been summoned.
