Finance Minister discusses sales tax, electricity bills with business community

Finance Minister Miftah Ismail contacted a delegation of the business community of Karachi through telephone with the help of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) over the issue of including sales tax in electricity bills.

Miftah admitted that electricity bills have been made wrongy. He told the traders that K Electric officials had been summoned to Islamabad to correct the electricity bills.

Sharjil Goplani, president of All-City Tajir Ittehad Association, said that the finance minister has assured to abolish GST and other taxes included in electricity bills.

He said there was also a discussion on providing a separate challan for traders to pay tax.

Trade Action Committee Chairman Muhammad Rizwan has demanded removal of sales tax from electricity bills diately.
