ISLAMABAD:

Businessmen have cautioned the government that political turmoil in the country is triggering economic instability, as already warned by the Ministry of Finance.

They said they were ready to invite all major political parties for dialogue on improving the economy as it must be the top priority of all stakeholders.

Speaking to media after signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Rawalpindi Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RWCCI), Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) President Muhammad Shakeel Munir highlighted that only 1% of women in Pakistan were entrepreneurs due to which the country had been unable to unlock its full economic potential.

He urged the government to make policies to encourage and promote women entrepreneurs to ensure robust economic growth in the country. He assured the RWCCI of ICCI’s full cooperation in promoting the interests of businesswomen.

Both parties agreed to work together to resolve the key issues of women entrepreneurs and promote their economic empowerment.

The two chambers would strengthen cooperation to help women entrepreneurs in business development and would raise the common issues of businesswomen at relevant forums for redressing them.

It was agreed that the two trade bodies would arrange exchange of visits of their respective members to discuss matters of common interest.

RWCCI President Uzma Shahid Butt said that growth of women entrepreneurs was imperative for sustainable economic development in Pakistan.

She added that women were facing multiple challenges including the difficulty in accessing finance for establishing business.
