Over 100 sculptures of Buddha showcased

Punjab Council of Arts Director inaugurated the 'Gandhara Art Exhibition' at the Rawalpindi Arts Council

RAWALPINDI:

Punjab Council of Arts Director General Saman Rai inaugurated the 'Gandhara Art Exhibition' at the Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC), in which over 100 sculptures of Buddha made by Muhammad Shafiq and Tariq Butt were on display.

RAC Director Waqar Ahmed and other officers were also present on the occasion, while many art students participated in the exhibition. Saman Rai inspected all the sculptures on display and expressed deep interest in them and appreciated the skills of the sculptors and their works.

Muhammad Shafiq and Tariq Butt have presented different periods of Buddha's life through sculptures, which are replicas of ancient statues of Buddha.

Speaking on the occasion, DG Punjab Council of Arts said that the aim of 'Gandhara Exhibition' is to introduce the young generation to the ancient civilisations in Pakistan, as our country is also the host of the oldest religious civilisations in the world.
