In connection with Pakistan's Diamond Jubilee, stars karaoke night was organised in collaboration with Cultural Theater at Punjab Arts Council on Thursday.
The chief guests of the karaoke night were Naheed Manzoor and Director of Arts Council Waqar Ahmed, while Manver Khan Afridi and Shama Adil performed the duties of the host.
Tariq Waraich, Kharo Azeem, Malik Arshad, Basharat Jafri, Azhar Kamil, Ali Zeib, Shahid Khan, Azeem Khan, Arshad and other singers performed on the karaoke night.
Manzoor said, "Our culture is our identity. History forgets those who have no identity. We are fortunate that our culture is admired all over the world," she added.
Ahmed said, "Today, we are proud of the blessing of freedom; behind it are the sacrifices of millions of martyrs." He added that the arts council would continue to work for the welfare of artists, musicians and arts personalities and advance artists' skills. Many people from the twin cities participated in the karaoke night.
Poster-making competition
Poster-making competitions were organised under the title “Historical places of Pakistan' at the Punjab Arts Council to celebrate Pakistan’s Diamond Jubilee.
The competitions were held in two different age groups, from age 6-15 and 16-25. Director of Arts Council Waqar Ahmed and Mohammad Younis Rumi were the judges of the competition whereas Naheed Manzoor was invited as a chief guest of the event.
While addressing the prize distribution ceremony, Naheed Manzoor said that art will always flourish in the Arts Council. In today's competitions, children have painted the beautiful Minar Pakistan, Badshahi Masjid, Shahi Qila, Rohtas Qila, Shah Rukn Alam and Zairat Residency on canvas. Pakistan’s youth is endowed with natural talents. Young painters are encouraged to excel in their work. She further said that artists trained by the Arts Council have made the nation proud.
In the 6 to 15 years group competition, Sanaveesh got the first position, Nimra Wasiq, Javeria Zafar and Arfa Zafar got the second, third and fourth position respectively. In the second category of 16 to 25 group, Vijaya Raja, Nimrah Naveed, Zanira Ghafoor and Hafsa Aram secured the first, second, third and fourth position respectively. Shields and certificates of appreciation were distributed to all the position holders.
