KARACHI:

A coordination committee meeting of Muttahida Qaumi Movment, Pakistan was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Convener, Waseem Akhtar at the Party center located in Bahadurabad.

The participant's discussed in detail the situation of Karachi during the recent rainfall and a detailed consideration was given regarding the loss of human lives and damages due to the recent rains in Karachi and Hyderabad.

It was also unanimously decided in the meeting that the areas of urban Sindh, including Karachi and Hyderabad, should be declared an emergency disaster area, while all utility bills should be reduced to provide relief to the people, and free water tankers should be provided in the affected areas.

Along with this, it has also been decided in the meeting that all the industrial and commercial centers of Karachi who suffered huge financial losses in the recent rains should be compensated by the government.

Deep concern was also expressed in the meeting regarding the performance of K Electric (KE) and it has been stated that the first drop of rain in Karachi opens up the performance and inefficiency of KE. It was said in the meeting that KE instead of providing convenience to the people, have made the citizens of Karachi suffer from over-billing and load-shedding, and at the same time, the people of Karachi suffer human losses due to electrocution during rains which again proved the KE an inefficient organization.

In the same way, the drinking water supply and drainage system in Karachi and Hyderabad have also been destructed. The dirty water of the sewage is mixing with the rainwater and entering the houses of the people, due to which the fear of epidemics has increased.

The Coordination Committee instructed all the organisational officials, and lawmakers in national and provincial assembly whether former and nominated local body members, that keeping in mind the recent rains, they should be among the people and help the people out of their difficulties. The coordination committee put an emphasis on its members to carry all out efforts to solve the problems of people in the city.

The coordination committee demanded of the CM to provide financial support to the people who lost their loved ones during the rains.
