Karachi violence: 'Army’s help may be sought'
Firdous Ashiq Awan says Pakistan is going through crucial phase in its fight against terrorism.
SIALKOT:
The army’s assistance could be sought to control the situation in Karachi, but only if the Sindh government made a request in this behalf, Federal Minister for Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said on Sunday.
Speaking at the launch ceremony of the Institute of Leadership and Management, she added that Pakistan is going through a crucial phase in its fight against terrorism, and that education could play a vital role in fighting terrorism.
Commenting on lawlessness in Karachi, the minister said that Karachi was the economic lifeline of Pakistan and terrorists were playing ‘dirty games’ to weaken Pakistan by causing linguistic and ethnic strife.
