Surreal: Pakistani artist's work goes into space as part of Space X

Ayesha M Ali, alongside Metavisionaries from across the world, sent pieces of their work onboard a rocket

On Saturday, Pakistani artist Ayesha M Ali made history as part of Metavisionaries to be among the first to send her work – now part of Space X – into space, alongside collaborative pieces from across the world.

Brimming with pride, Ayesha took to Facebook to document her achievement and detail the venture. "Yesterday we made history! Metavisionaries sent its first pieces of art and music with collaborators to space! So excited to be part of this mind-blowing collaboration as my space art became part of Space X."

Her artwork is currently boarded on a CRS25 rocket of the ‘Maleth II’ with ICE Cubes Service and ESA on the international space station. The artist also said that it felt "surreal' to onboard her pieces in a rocket where she not only shared the space with other legendary artists but also discussed imagining the future with leaders from all around the world.

"Seems surreal to onboard my multiple space art pieces alongside ideas and imagination about the future by amazing thought leaders around the world. This included Egyptian singer Wegz KR song 21, content from Arts Help, Former chief Scientists National Aeronautics and Space Administration's (NASA) James Green, Nina Rodrigues and Anne Marie," she wrote.

Giving some background for the unversed, about who Metavisionaries are, she added, "Their mission is to give access to the space economy and frontier technologies to communities globally has sent its 1st pieces of art and music to space. We believe space exploration is a driving force in our efforts to address the major challenges facing society today. By utilising space, we can learn new ways to find sustainable solutions for the spaceship, planet Earth."

Adding that the initiative highlights a multidisciplinary approach, she concluded by acknowledging how proud a moment it is for artists and creatives like herself, to be brought together by the universe, for the universe, through scientists and entrepreneurs of the future.
