Nullahs continue to spew bodies of drowned persons

Bodies of two sisters from Malir, a boy from Azimpura, a man from Gujjar Nullah recovered

Two days after the torrential rains, more bodies were found in storm drains and nullahs in the city.

Bodies of two sisters who had gone missing after falling into the overflowing Malir River on Tuesday were found on Wednesday. The girls aged 12 and eight had gone with their mother to wash clothes on the river bank in Memon Goth.

They were playing in shallow water when a strong current swept them away, police said.

Meanwhile, a young boy drowned while bathing in the Azimpura Malir Nadi within the limits of Sharafi Goth police station. His body was taken out and shifted to Jinnah Hospital.

According to police officials, the deceased boy was identified as Inam Ali, 14, a resident of Azimpura. Police handed over the body to his heirs after taking legal procedure.

Furthermore, a man drowned in Gujjar Nala of North Nazimabad Kausar Niazi Colony of Haideri Market Police Station. His body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post-mortem examination, where the deceased was identified as Botha Masih, 45.

According to SHO Faisal Rafi, the deceased was residing on the bank of Gujar Nulah when he slipped and fell into Gujar Nala while opening the entrance gate of his house. Police handed over the body to his heirs after taking legal procedure.

Separately, a body of an unidentified man was found in the Jumman Shah area of Lyari. The man had drowned at least three days ago and urban flood had left his body on an open plot.

SHO Ghaffar Korai said that nothing was found from the deceased to help him be identified.
