Outgoing German Ambassador to Pakistan Bernhard Schlagheck expressed his heartfelt emotions for Pakistan as he bade adieu to the country.

"Even if I won't have this view of Islamabad and its Red Zone anymore tomorrow morning rest assured… Pakistan and its people will remain firmly on my mind," he said in his message prior to his journey back home.

In a video posted by the German embassy on Facebook on Thursday, the outgoing ambassador was seen riding a bike before expressing his views regarding his departure.

“This is a very special morning as you are seeing from the fact that I'm here early morning," he said.

The ambassador added that it was his last day in Islamabad as his term concludes and he has a journey back home tonight.

"If it had to be said what is the most precious thing that I came about in Pakistan during these three years, I would say without hesitation that it is the Pakistanis… the people… whose generosity, hospitality and kindness have been second to none," he remarked.

I would say, he added, this is the stuff true friendship is made of… is woven from.

Schlagheck thanked Pakistan for the trust, confidence and the commitment towards the ties between the two countries and its people.

"With that god bless you all and Khuda Hafiz," he concluded.
