Will accept whatever Behroze Sabzwari says with gratitude: Khalilur Rehman endorses actor's apology

Veteran actor said if Qamar wasn’t a writer, he’d be a punching bag for people on a talk show

Khalilur Rehman Qamar broke silence on veteran actor Behroze Sabzwari's comments about his supposed profession following a public apology by the latter. The popular playwright, accepting the apology, shared that he was aware of Sabzwari's intentions and that no media channel should contact him further regarding this.

Taking to Twitter, the Meray Paas Tum Ho writer wrote that he knows that the Tanhaiyaan actor did not mean what he said and even if he did, given their affectionate relationship, he'll accept whatever Sabzwari says with gratitude.

After recieving severe backlash after his comments, a video, that has been making rounds on social media, saw the Shehnai actor address his recent statement about the popular playwright and publicly apologise to him, adding he was just joking around and didn't mean what he said. Qamar also added the apology in his tweet.

“I’d like to publicly apologise to Khalilur Rehman Qamar if I’ve hurt his sentiments, because believe me, whatever I said was all in jokes and fun,” said Sabzwari in the video. He further added that Qamar is one of the best writers in the industry. “In my opinion, we don’t have a writer of quality better than him in our industry yet.”

Calling him a longtime friend, the Ankahi actor continued, “We’re very good friends and I treasure him a lot. The stature that he holds is so high that it couldn’t be affected by the statement that I give. It was a joke, just for laughs.”

Earlier this week, Sabzwari appeared on a local talk show Hasna Mana Hai along with actor Javed Sheikh. In a rapid-fire round, Hashmi asked Sabzwari what Qamar would be if not a writer by profession. “Voh logo se pit rahe hote (He’d be getting beaten by people),” quipped the veteran actor. Sheikh, who was sitting next to him, also laughed out loud along with the host.

The comment section saw people defending Qamar against Sabzwari’s remarks. Referring to how actor Mahira Khan said she’s lost work ever since she called the Mere Paas Tum Ho author for his blatant misogyny, a user wrote that Sabzwari will now not be getting any roles in Qamar’s projects.
