DIJKOT:

Five incidents of fire occurred on Friday in which valuables worth millions of rupees were gutted. However, no loss of life was reported.

In one of the incidents, someone lighted an oil lamp and placed it on top of their freezer because of a power outage in Block-D in Sir Syed Town, Djikot Road.

The oil lamp fell off the freezer and into a piece of cloth. Soon the entire house got engulfed in fire, reducing all the household items to ashes. In another incident, fire erupted at a factory on 188 Jhumra Road due to a short circuit and gutted all the stock of cloth in the factory.

A pickup van carrying a petrol drum had been plying the Jhumra Road when petrol began to leak from the drum, dripping all the way to the silencer, igniting a fire which burnt the whole van.

Its occupants managed to step off the vehicle just in time to save themselves from harm.

In yet another incident of short circuit, fire broke out in a factory on Dhadiwala Chhoti Nahar off Jaranwala Road. Fire burnt all the polythene bags to ashes.

Meanwhile, fire broke out at a shop during gas refilling in front of the City Terminal.
