The Sindh High Court (SHC) has rejected the request for an immediate hearing of the plea filed against the present and former commissioners for non-implementation of government rates set for selling milk.
A two-judge bench headed by Justice Muhammad Junaid Ghaffar heard a contempt of court petition against the present and former commissioners of Karachi for not implementing the official rates to sell milk which is being sold far above the government rates.
Irfan Aziz Advocate said that action should be taken against Naveed Ahmed Sheikh former and current Commissioner Muhammad Iqbal Memon.
The court remarked that first they have to prove how contempt of court took place.
Irfan Aziz Advocate stated that the administration fixed the price of milk at Rs120 per litre on a court order while the product is being sold at a rate of Rs170 per litre.
He added that non-implementation of government rates is tantamount to contempt of court.
The court remarked that first you have to prove that your application is admissible for hearing. The court rejected Irfan Aziz Advocate's request for immediate hearing.
Meanwhile, a two-member bench headed by Justice Muhammad Junaid Ghaffar heard a petition against the delimitation of Manghopir Union Council for the local bodies elections.
Atiqur Rehman Advocate, counsel for petitioner Muhammad Akram Khan Niazi, contended that demarcation was done against the rules. The lawyer said that the purpose of the controversial zoning was to achieve political goals.
