Over Rs2b sought for Pindi colleges

Four new associate colleges will be established

The directorate of colleges Rawalpindi has sought over Rs2 billion in the new financial year from the Punjab Higher Education Commission for the establishment of four new associate colleges, multi-purpose halls in 10 colleges, a library, a computer lab and the construction of new buildings for two colleges.

Four new associate colleges will be established at Kontrela Gujar Khan, Rakh Sarkar Rawalpindi, Karur Kotli Sattian and Murree. They include two girls' and two boys' associate colleges. The directorate of colleges has already acquired land for the new colleges.

The cost of Gujar Khan has been estimated at Rs300 million and the cost of the other three colleges has been estimated at Rs600 million. While the multi-purpose hall at the Government Associate College Khayaban Sir Syed would cost Rs50 million, a new academic building at the Associate College Chak Bailey Khan would cost Rs180 million.

The new building of the Chakri College would cost Rs100 million. A new Gujar Khan Women's College block would cost Rs150 million. Hashmat Ali Islamia College Rawalpindi would cost Rs150 million. A computer lab and a library at the Women's College Dhok Rata would cost Rs80 million, while Associate College Dupari Kahuta's new building would cost Rata 180 million.
