Aamir Khan's Laal Singh Chaddha has been one of the most awaited films of this year. Khan's latest offering is an Indian adaptation of Tom Hanks' best film, Forrest Gump.
The trailer of the movie was recently released during the final of IPL this week. The trailer takes us through Laal’s life as he becomes a professional runner and then goes on to join the Indian Army, navigating personal turmoil along the way. Somewhere along the way, Laal starts walking without his leg braces and falls in love with his childhood friend, Vimmy.
While the film flips through quite a few decades of Indian history, the one thing that remains the same is Laal’s love for Vimmy and the heartbreak that follows when she doesn’t reciprocate. The film marks Kareena’s comeback to Hindi cinema after 2019 and just like Laal, we see her character go through multiple transformations in post-independence India.
However, many on Twitter have criticised Khan for choosing similar roles time and again. What some argued on the micro-blogging website is how the award-winning actor has been portraying similar roles, if not the same. PK, 3 Idiots, Dhoom 3 and now Laal Singh Chaddha sees Khan in a buzzcut and same facial expressions.
Here's what they thought about Khan.
Aamir Khan is a perfectionist and a method actor.

Aamir Khan should stop watching Mr. Bean before making anymore movies.

Don't ever assume that Bollywood has hit rock bottom. It will scrape and dig through the bottom and find new lows. Right now, it is Aamir Khan leading the digging party.

Aamir's acting as young #LaalSinghChaddha looks akin to "Samar" from Dhoom 3.

As I said earlier, Aamir Khan is strictly an average actor with very limited range of expressions.
Aamir Khan said in an interview he’s been working on the #ForrestGump adaptation for 14 years. It shows. #LalSinghChaddha pic.twitter.com/Ech41JhWRE

The film marks Kareena’s comeback to Hindi cinema after 2019 and just like Laal, we see her character go through multiple transformations in post-independence India.
Towards the end, we see Laal as a transformed man sporting a beard and turban, reminiscing on his extraordinary life. With a background score that will tug at your heartstrings and a perfect balance of love, emotions, drama and comedy, Laal Singh Chaddha promises to be every bit as soul-stirring as the original Hollywood movie.
The film is set to release on August 11, 2022.
