Suspect, an ex-convict, used to commit crimes and return to his hometown in Bajaur

With the rising crime rate and the police failing to curb it, the frustrated citizens in Gulshan-e-Iqbal took up arms for their protection.

In a recent incident, a citizen standing outside his bungalow opened fire on the robbers coming with the intention of looting, as a result of which a robber from Bajaur district (KPK) was killed while his accomplice suffered injuries. Weapons, eight mobile phones and a snatched motorcycle were recovered from the robbers' possession.

As soon as the incident was reported, the police rushed to the spot, arrested the injured dacoit Shakeel and shifted him to the hospital for medical treatment, while they shifted the body of the slain dacoit to Jinnah Hospital for autopsy.

SHO Gulshan-e-Iqbal Ashraf Jogi said that the slain robber was identified as Kaleem Ullah Khan, a resident of Sohrab Goth and a native of Bajaur. Yousuf Plaza Police arrested and jailed him before.

He added that a citizen was standing outside his house when the two robbers had stopped in the street to rob him. The citizen sensing their intentions, opened fire on the two robbers with his licenced weapon, due to which they fell along with their motorcycle.

While the motorcycle found in possession of the robbers was seized from Gulshan-e-Iqbal police station, SHO added.

Police are getting more information about the incident from the arrested, injured robber.
