CHAK JHUMRA:

A shop owner was killed by robbers when he offered resistance.

Zaid had set up Jalal Super Store off the Main Road in 196 RB Ghona Area in the jurisdiction of the Millat Town Police Station. Two robbers on a motorcycle arrived at the shop to loot it. Zaid, Azeem-ul-Haq and Abdul Qayyum resisted them upon which the robbers opened fire on 25-year-old Zaid who died on the spot while the robbers fled.

In March this year, suspects opened fire on a shopkeeper and killed him after he resisted being robbed in Khurrianwala. Muhammad Kazim, a resident of Chak 37 North, had set up a shop, Awan Studio and EasyPaisa, along with his father, Azam.

The shop is located near Sheikhupura Road. Two suspects on a motorcycle arrived at the shop late at night and tried to snatch cash from Azam, who drew a licensed pistol to defend himself. The robbers fired first, hitting him in the abdomen and chest.

The robbers escaped while Azam was critically wounded. Rescue 1122 personnel rushed Muhammad Azam to the Allied Hospital where he died in the late hours of the night. Upon receiving the information, police officers, including DSP of Khurrianwala, Usman Warraich, reached the spot where they returned the body of the deceased to his son, Muhammad Kazim.

A case under Sections 302 and 393 of the PPC was registered and police started searching for the suspects. Police sources said seven people have been killed during robberies in Faisalabad district since January 1 this year. Police stations in which people were killed for resistance include Batala Colony Police Station, Nishatabad Police Station, Millat Town Police Station, Thikriwala Police Station, Khurrianwala Police Station, Balochni Police Station and Dijkot Police Station.

Many cases of shooting of civilians for resisting robbery attempts have been registered in the city, with police seemingly struggling to control the rising wave of crime in the district.
