KARACHI:

The Judicial Magistrate, Sharqi Sheikh Abbas Mehdi has directed the DIG East to conduct an inquiry against the SHO and the head constable of Azia Bhatti police station for implicating 15-year-old Rizwan, who works in a junk shop.

Judicial Magistrate East, Karachi, Sheikh Abbas Mehdi’s court in Karachi City Court heard the case against a minor for buying stolen goods at a junk shop.

While addressing the SHO and head constable, the court remarked that why not legal action be taken against both of you? The court remarked that the safety of the citizens is at stake because of the police department. The court maintained that according to the law, the job of the police is to protect the citizens but police officers misuse their authority.

The court directed DIG East to conduct an impartial inquiry against ad SHO Aziz Bhatti and Head Constable Ghulam Hussain.

The court maintained that departmental action should also be taken against both the police officers. The court further directed DIG East to submit inquiry report within 10 days.

The court also issued show cause notices to the head constable and SHO Aziz Bhatti who arrested the minor and summoned them on May 30.

The court also ordered the release of Rizwan.

Illegal construction

On a petition against illegal constructions in Nazimabad No. 5, the Sindh High Court has directed the police to trace the owner of a building and ordered builder to submit an affidavit regarding the ownership of the building.

In an argument with the SBCA lawyer, the court said that you are doing illegal constructions, you should be ashamed.

A two-member bench headed by Justice Syed Hassan Azhar Rizvi heard the petition. Builder Shahid appeared in the court. The builders stated that he had nothing to do with the ownership of the building.

The SBCA lawyer stated that the SBCA also could not get any information about the construction and owner of the building.

Justice Syed Hassan Azhar Rizvi remarked, “No one knows about the building or the owner. Illegal constructions in the city are being carried out under the supervision of corrupt officials of SBCA.”

In an argument with the SBCA lawyer, the court said, “We had asked the SBCA to submit the names of the officers involved in illegal constructions.” On which the lawyer argued that the SBCA had formed a committee to investigate.

Justice Hassan Azhar Rizvi remarked, “What will the committee do if it does not even know how to issue show cause notice? The director of SBCA is a thief. Was this building constructed in a day or two? The SBCA has recruited the most incompetent lawyers. They even can’t do investigation.”
