A 14-year-old was allegedly sodomised and filmed by a tailor master in the jurisdiction of Gomal University police station in DI Khan district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P).
Police told The Express Tribune that the elder brother of the victim lodged an FIR with police, stating that his younger brother told him that the tailor master Nisar Ahmad who teaches tailoring to his brother and who is a family friend, repeatedly raped the boy and even filmed him.
“Nisar later released these videos and pictures on social media in order to blackmail him,” he said.
Police registered an FIR against the accused Nisar and sent the victim for medical examination.
A child rights activist Imran Takkar told The Express Tribune that child molestation has been on the rise across the province without inviting any attention from the quarters concerned.
“There are laws in place and the government has done legislation too but there is a lack of awareness among the general public. Mostly family members and close family friends or neighbours are involved in child molestation,” he said, adding that only parents could play their due role in this regard and protect their kids but unfortunately they don’t understand the gravity of the situation in majority of cases.
