Two Anarkali blast suspects detained

Police seize 'detonators, primer cord and other bomb-making material'

LAHORE:

Punjab Police arrested two suspects allegedly involved in New Anarkali Blast that claimed three lives and injured 33.

The arrested suspects were identified as Abdul Razzaq and Sana Ullah. Police seized detonators, primer cord and other bomb-making material.

On January 20 2022, an IED was detonated in front of the Bank Al Habib branch in New Anarkali. Responsibility for the blast was claimed on social media by Mureed Baloch, a spokesperson for the Baloch Nationalist Army (BNA), an alliance of the BRA and UBA.

CTD Punjab, employing forensic expertise and analysis of Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) security footage, apprehended dozens of suspects in IBOs. Having analysed the evidence, it was revealed that the suspects involved in the Anarkali Blast had left Balochistan on a truck and were headed to Lahore.

Sana Ullah and Abdul Razzaq were traced and apprehended in IBOs when they eventually reached Lahore.
