The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) geared up the mobilisation of its supporters to make its ‘Haqiqi Azadi March’ a success by holding conventions of professionals and workers on Tuesday.
The conventions were attended by a large number of workers and party leaders Asad Umar, Shafqat Mahmood, Dr Yasmin Rashid, Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed and Senator Ejaz Chaudhry.
Addressing a convention’s participants, former minister Shafqat Mahmood said then country was passing through a crucial time. For the first time, Pakistan has got a leader who had told the nation that it should not accept slavery and should make decisions on its own.
“The imported government has miserably failed to run the country. The entire focus of the imported government is to direct the FIA and other state institutions to close down cases against them,” he alleged.
He said there was no doubt that inflation was high during the PTI’s rule but the economy was growing. “Pakistan’s exports and agricultural production were at a record level and there was no load-shedding,” he claimed, accusing the incumbent government of “ruining everything in a couple of weeks.”
He said elections were the only solution to the prevailing crisis.
Former federal minister Hammad Azhar said an unprecedented depreciation in the value of the rupee against the greenback had been witnessed.
The foreign exchange reserves were at $22 billion during the PTI’s rule and the country was on a trajectory of economic growth, he asserted.
He said the nation had already announced its verdict by coming out daily to support its leader.
Mahmoodur Rasheed underscored an elected government should not be toppled through a ‘foreign conspiracy’ anywhere in the world. He said former prime minister Imran Khan had fixed the national economy. His public welfare initiatives, including the health insurance card, made him popularity and are a cause of concern for the government.
He said the former prime minster had also attempted to buy cheap fuel from Russia.
He said rejection of imported government was currently the most popular slogan in the world, adding that the entire nation was waiting for Imran’s call of the march.
The leaders asserted that all attempts of the government to stop the march would fail. They said corruption was the biggest hurdle in way of prosperity and development in the country.
They said that if the PTI came into power again, it would send corrupt politicians behind the bars. They also termed it unfortunate that the prime minister along with his cabinet members had visited London to make decisions regarding the country.
“People of Pakistan will vote for the PTI for the future of their children,” a party leader said.
