LAHORE:

More than 100 umbrellas donated by the University of Health Sciences (UHS) were distributed among City Traffic Police Lahore (CTPL) wardens on Monday to help them perform duty in hot weather.

The umbrellas were distributed among traffic wardens posted at various points in the metropolis by Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana and Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Muntazir Mehdi at an event held at Faisal Chowk.

The CCPO said the initiative was aimed at protecting the traffic police personnel from the dangers of heatstroke and dehydration.

“We have issued directives to all our traffic police officers to give due importance to their health, drink adequate amount of water and adopt precautionary measures in sizzling heat,” he said.

In certain parts of the city, there are no areas with shade and, therefore, the umbrellas would be of great help for officials who had to bear the heat while managing traffic, Kamyana added.
