Man kills son before committing suicide

Police say evidence being collected from crime scene

A man killed his son and injured his wife and daughter-in-law before committing suicide on Friday within the limits of the Sihala police station.

According to police, the incident took place in Defence Housing Authority Phase-II, Islamabad. According to the police, the man named Muhammad Aziz, who is said to be an employee of the FBR, opened fire on his wife Aneesa, son Rameez and daughter-in-law Nimra over some domestic issue. As a result of the fire, his son Rameez died on the spot, while his wife and daughter-in-law were injured, who were rushed to hospital in critical condition.

The accused took his own life after the incident, police said and added that evidence was being collected from the crime scene and further investigation is under way.

Meanwhile, Islamabad police have arrested 2,661 outlaws in the month of April 2022 and recovered looted valuables worth more than Rs119.8 million in property cases from them, a police spokesman said.

He said that all zonal police officials to accelerate efforts against anti-social elements and ensure their arrest. As per his orders, renewed efforts were made besides strict law and order duties and police achieved remarkable success during April.

Owing to these efforts, 426 accused involved in dacoity/robbery, theft, vehicle and motorbike theft and tampering with vehicle were apprehended besides recovery of 119.8 million, including 53 vehicles and 51 motorbikes and 51 accused of 21 gangs.

Likewise, police also arrested 143 absconders during the same period including 48 proclaimed offenders and 95 court absconders.

Moreover, police nabbed 59 accused for involvement in bootlegging and drug peddling activities while 31.837 kilogram hashish, 17.83 kilogram heroin, 1.052 kilogrammes of ice, and 175 bottles of wine were recovered from them. Police also arrested 107 suspects for having illegal weapons and recovered three Kalashnikovs, two guns, 103 pistols and 485 cartridges from them.

During a special campaign against professional alms seekers, 1,146 beggars were arrested while 13 facilitators of professional beggars were nabbed and cases were registered against them.
